How our scoring system works

The score is simply the percentage of votes that favor the urban forest. Abstentions and absences are not counted. Scoring did not begin until December 14, 2005, therefore the chart does not reflect a councilmember’s entire record.

Furthermore, our system may not give a complete picture of a councilmember’s environmental record. Many members work behind the scenes and in committees, for and against the interests of the cTc. Therefore, the system may overlook actions that influence the urban forest in small or even large ways. But in general, it gives a representative picture of each councilmember’s support for our urban forest.

Voting Record Spreadsheet

The chart above is derived from our City Council Voting Scores spreadsheet, which reflects our analysis of each vote affecting tree preservation and urban forestry.
