Every bill designed to dismantle
San Antonio’s tree and aquifer protection ordinances met with unlikely defeat in the 82nd Texas Legislature.
- SB 732, the clearcutting bill, passed out of the Senate by trickery but was rejected by the House.

- SB 1741, which would have gutted heritage tree protections, was blocked from coming to a vote in the Senate.

- SB 1201, which would have increased development over the Edwards Aquifer and in floodplains, did not even get a committee hearing.

- Three grandfathering bills, which would have enabled developers to get exemptions from city ordinances, were not passed. One bill ran out of time and the other two never got traction.
