As it relates to trees, this initiative went exactly nowhere. Gutierrez is now a state representative.

Our mainstream "news" outlets fail the community pitifully. They allow shoddy sleazy corporations like Toll Bros to get away with the destruction of our environment with their passive, lazy, advertiser-based approach to news.

It''s a devastating mark on our society that the land ethic that we hold to is based on the individual concepts of people who survive by the economics of land change. Those with the purse to possess the land determine for society its land values - or lack of. Unless we can change this perception, we will always lose more than gain and the future of generations to come will be the worse for it.

We are creatures of waste and ignorance. Those with the knowledge must educate. I appreciate the work you put forward on this site.

[...] Many folks have pointed out the linkage between the enormous Helotes mulch pile and rampant tree clearing from vast acreages in that part of Bexar County. In his column titled Aquifer manager calls trash fire a no-win situation for Helotes, Carlos Guerra notes that: Ironically, what is burning is the detritus of developers who scraped recharge-area landscape clean to build new Hill Country escapes.
