Only YOU can prevent mulch pile fires
Many folks have pointed out the linkage between the enormous Helotes mulch pile and rampant tree clearing from vast acreages in that part of Bexar County. In his column titled Aquifer manager calls trash fire a no-win situation for Helotes, Carlos Guerra notes that:

San Antonio desperately needs its own version of Smokey Bear. Instead of lecturing folks about the dangers of matches and cigarettes, he could go around biting developers who bulldoze trees.
