Green developments that saved trees

Developments across San Antonio have far exceeded tree canopy cover percentages proposed in a major tree ordinance overhaul. Requirements for 38% residential and 25% commercial tree canopy cover have been criticized as being impossible to achieve and so costly they will drive new development out of our city.

Recently, the cTc evaluated a number of residential, educational, retail, industrial, office, and apartment projects using high resolution classified imagery. Far from scraping by the proposed percentages, most of these developments eclipsed them.
