Planning Commission approves Tree Ordinance cuts |
On Wednesday, November 9th, Planning Commissioners voted for large reductions in tree preservation requirements including a 75% cut in protection of old, heritage trees. Their recommendations go to City Council for a vote on December 15th. In addition, the commission advocated weakening root protection rules and added its own amendment allowing tree save areas to be split up. However, the commissioners rejected demands by developers to eliminate protection of Ashe Juniper trees. Its recommendations were forwarded to City Council for a December 15th vote. Contact your City Councilperson now and urge them to vote no on amendments to the Tree Preservation Ordinance. |
