Tree Ordinance Amendments postponed until February |
Posted: Thursday, December 15, 2005; revised January 9, 2006. City Council has postponed consideration of tree ordinance amendments until February 23rd (see message below). This is not necessarily good news, as it gives the land development industry more time for lobbying to weaken the ordinance. cTc members and the Conservation Society made effective presentations at the December 1st Council hearing. While some Council members appear to lean toward exempting Ashe juniper, others seemed troubled by the amendments and asked for additional staff briefings. ----- Original Message ----- On December 15th the City Council will hold a public hearing and consider for adoption the 2005 Annual UDC Update Program. There will be 61 amendments considered. The Council directed that all amendments regarding trees be removed and continued until February of 2006 and that the remaining amendments to be considered be put into a matrix format for ease of reading. The public hearing will be held during the regular session of the City Council on Dec. 15, which starts at 9:00 am in the City Council Chambers located in the Municipal Plaza Building at 114 W. Commerce street and which is fully handicapped accessible. The amendments in a matrix format style are available for your review on the City's web site at - http://www.sanantonio.gov/dsd/pdf/matrix_f.pdf It should be noted that no changes have been introduced into the amendments since their presentation to the City Council on Dec 1, 2005. |
